Appointment Types
When making an appointment please inform the receptionist if you require a standard or long consultation. This assists us in reducing waiting times for all patients.
Standard Consultation (23) – 10 minutes
Long Consultation (36) – 20 minutes
Extended Consultation (44) – 40 minutes
Telehealth consultations are also offered and will require you to advise reception to arrange. Walk In appointments are welcome and will be accommodated where appropriate. Another time on the same day may be offered or a short wait required. Emergencies will always be given priority. In any life-threatening or serious emergency, please phone 000 or attend your nearest emergency department.
Our reception staff will attempt to contact you if there are any unforeseen delays or the GP has been called away. If you require an interpreter service, please advise reception and this will be arranged for your appointment.

New Patients
Goombungee Family Practice welcomes new patients. We request New Patients to phone or visit the clinic to make their initial consultation as HotDoc does not allow new patient bookings. New Patient forms are available at reception. Please note: If you are a patient who has transferred your records to another clinic, please be advised that due to current demand for appointments and continuity of care, we are unable to take you back and you will be requested to continue seeing your current GP or another practice.
Schedule 8 Drugs
This practice will not prescribe schedule 8 drugs at first consultation. Dr Ramnanan contacts Real Time Prescription Monitoring (Q-Scripts) before prescribing Schedule 8 Drugs.
Upon Arrival to the Clinic
Please see reception to ensure we mark you as arrived. Please ensure your contact details, Medicare, Concession details and Next Of Kin details are up to date.
Telephone Consultations
We offer telephone appointments for current patients who have had a visit to the practice within the past 12 months for occasions where you are physically unable to attend, or the query is minor and can be resolved by phone. We may ask why you are unable to attend as face-to-face appointments are always preferred. If you are required to pay for the appointment, one of our reception team will phone to arrange payment. The Medicare rebate will be processed by Medicare within 24-48 hours. It is a Medicare requirement that we obtain your consent to consult with you by telephone.
Medicare Rebates
Medicare rebates increased from 1st November 2023. See the table of fees for current rebate amounts. We are able to process Medicare rebates at the time of payment if you are using a savings/debit card. If paying by cash or credit card, we forward the claim to Medicare for processing within 24-48 hours. Please ensure Medicare has your current bank details to enable the rebate to be paid to your account. You can check this by logging in to your MyGov account and selecting Medicare.
